Physical Education Policy

(1) Uniform Requirements

  • A school uniform or physical education is available and will be on sale on Schedule Pick-Up Day. If a uniform is not purchased, shorts that you can easily move in (not jean shorts) and a t-short must be worn.
  • A pair of running shoes, which are NOT used for street shoes. Shoes must have laces and be tied. Skateboarding shoes are not allowed!
  • An Extra pair of socks
  • We also recommend a sweatshirt and sweatpants to keep in the locker for when it is chilly outside.
  • Deodorant
  • If the student does not have the correct uniform, they will lose points for the particular day. In addition, a student who does not change for PE will not be allowed to participate in any extracurricular activities (including sports) that night (practice or games).

(2) Excuses

  • If during the year a student becomes unable to participate in physical education, a note from a doctor must be brought in on the third day of non participation. Included in the note should be the reason for non participation and the duration of the excuse. If the student is able to participate in certain activities, make sure that the doctor lists those activities.
  • When a student is excused from the class activity, the teacher may suggest an appropriate alternative activity such as a written assignment or peer teaching.

3) Grades are based on:

  • Effort that is put forth in class
  • Attitude towards physical activity, classmates, teachers, and class activities
  • Improvement in skills
  • Brain Challenges, journals, and other homework assignments.
  • Changing into appropriate physical education clothing and making it to class on time (Excessive absenteeism and tardiness will effect the student's grade)

** Each student will have a locker. It is his/her responsibility to keep items locked up in the locker and refrain from sharing her/his combination with peers. We are NOT responsible for lost articles!
