WEBMASTER'S NOTE: Any reference to "sign-up forms" stated anywhere in the Backwood's News refers to forms located in the printed copy of this newsletter and not to the electronic copy you are now reading. Forms found in the hard printed copy can be filled out and sent to Northwood or you can volunteer by calling the office at 338-4900 or sending an email to this website. FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL.....
This past week has been very busy here at NWMS and throughout the District and will continue into next week. We started the state ISAT testing this week and will be completing make-up tests next week. Preliminary scores should be back in June or July and you will get a report on your child's performance at conferences next fall. Registration materials will be coming home in April for next school year. Please remember that if you haven't finished paying your fees for this year that you take care of that ASAP. If you have any questions about fees please contact Susan Iles in the NWMS office. Spring Break will start on Saturday March 21st and will last through Sunday, March 29th. Students will return to school on Monday, March 30th. The last day of student attendance before Spring Break will be on Friday, March 20th with a normal dismissal time of 3:30pm. Make sure you read this edition completely as there is information about the cross-town dance with Creekside, as well as copies of school supply lists and order forms for next school year. Special Permits
Requests to attend a school outside of your attendance area next year must be submitted on a form which can be obtained from the school office or the District Office. All forms must be sent to the Superintendent's Office, 227 West Judd Street, Woodstock, IL 60098 NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2009. Families will receive written notification of the decision in late May. Any requests received after the April 17th deadline will not be acted upon until June.
Permisos especiales para el ano escolar 2009-2010 Las peticiones para que su nino pueda asistir a una escuela fuera de su area de asistencia el proximo ano escolar deben de ser entregadas en un formulario que se puede obtener en la oficina de su escuela o la oficina del Distrito. Todos los formularios tienen que ser enviados a la oficina del superintendente, a 227 West Judd Street, Woodstock, IL 60098 A NO MÅS TARDE DE EL VIERNES, 17 DE ABRIL DEL 2009. P.T.O. Corner & 8th Grade Dance
The PTO is hard at work planning the 8th grade dance. This years dance will be held at NWMS on Friday, May 8th from 7-9:30pm. The PTO is looking for parent volunters to help with planning, decorating during the day of May 8th and for parents interested in making any contributions. If you are interested in helping or willing to give some time please contact Sheila White at 815-337-1669. The PTO is also selling tickets for a Harley Davidson Motorcycle one day rental to help defray the cost of the 8th grade dance. For information please contact Michelle Krenger at 815-334-0109
Crosstown Dance
Next Friday, March 13th from 4-6pm student council will be hosting a crosstown dance for Northwood and Creekside students at Northwood. Students must parchase their tickets in advance and exchange them for a wrist band on Friday before lunches end or they will not be permitted to the dance. No exceptions will be made. Also, students attending the dance must stay for the entire 2 hours. Students will not be allowed to leave early. If your child is unable to stay for the two hours then they will not be able to attend the dance. No exceptions will be made. We have been having problems with students leaving the dance early and parents not being aware that they left early or where they are located. Parents MUST pick up students at Northwood by 6pm.
School Supply Packages
Included in this edition is a copy of the school supply lists for and an order form for next year's 7th and 8th graders if you chose to order your supplies through NWMS vs. purchasing them yourself, Orders through the school will only be accepted through March 20th so don't delay!
Student Council Dance
The student council will be sponsoring a winter/holiday dance next Friday, December 12th from 4-6pm. All students in grades 6th through 8th grade are invited to attend. The cost is $4.00 per student. We would like to remind all parents to please make sure that you are at school by 6pm to pick up your child from the dance.
NMS Play - Annie Jr.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th as NWMS will be presenting the play Annie Jr. in the NWMS cafeteria at 7pm.
