WEBMASTER'S NOTE: Any reference to "sign-up forms" stated anywhere in the Backwood's News refers to forms located in the printed copy of this newsletter and not to the electronic copy you are now reading. Forms found in the hard printed copy can be filled out and sent to Northwood or you can volunteer by calling the office at 338-4900 or sending an email to this website. FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL.....
Can you believe that it is already the middle of April. I find it amazing at how fast the school year is flying by. With less than one quarter to go, we have a lot of fun and exciting events upcoming at NWMS. I am going to keep this section very short as there is a lot of important information enclosed with this letter. There is important information from the PTO about upcoming events and fundraisers that they are having. There is important information about school supplies for next year and registration for next year. Please be sure to visit the NWMS website for latest news and detailed schedules about upcoming events.

Enclosed with this letter is information from the PTO that includes: Shop and Share dates and coupons for Jewel Go Green Information and how the school/PTO can make money.
- The PTO will also be hosting a fundraiser with S&S landscaping in the next month. You can purchase plants and flowers and the PTO will get money back. Watch for details about this program to come home and check the building website for additional details. There is also a letter for 8th grade parents regarding the 8th grade dance on May 9th.
Cross-town Dance
Next Friday, May 25th from 4-6pm the NWMS student council will be hosting a crosstown dance with Creekside for all NWMS and Creekside students. Students must parchase their tickets in advance. The dance will end promptly at 6pm. Your assistance in being here at that time to pick them up is greatly appreciated.
School Supply Lists
Included in the printed edition is a copy of the school supply lists and an order form for next yearâÄôs 7th and 8th graders if you chose to order your supplies through NWMS vs. purchasing them yourself, The deadline to order through the school has been extended, but orders will only be accepted through May 1st so don't delay!
Summer School
Don't forget that summer school registration is due Friday, April 25th. Don't delay in sending your forms and money
Special Permits for 2008-2009 School Year Requests to attend a school outside of your attendance area next year must be submitted on a form which can be obtained from the school office or the District Office. All forms must be sent to the SuperintendentâÄôs Office, 227 West Judd Street, Woodstock, IL 60098 NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 2008. Families will receive written notification of the decision in late May.
Any requests received after the April 16th deadline will not be acted upon until June.
Permisos especiales para el ano escolar 2008-2009 Las peticiones para que su nino pueda asistir a una escuela fuera de su area de asistencia el proximo ano escolar deben de ser entregadas en un formulario que se puede obtener en la oficina de su escuela o la oficina del Distrito. Todos los formularios tienen que ser enviados a la oficina del superintendente, a 227 West Judd Street, Woodstock, IL 60098 A NO MAS TARDE DE EL VIERNES, 16 DE ABRIL DEL 2008. Las familias recibiran aviso escrito sobre la decision a fines de mayo. Ninguna peticion recibida despues del plazo del 16 de abril recibira accion hasta junio.
